Here on the Youth Juice Blog, we have dedicated several posts to some of the various ingredients in Youth Juice’s Perfect 10. And while each of these ingredients packs tremendous health benefits on its own, it is the unique blend of these ingredients that puts Youth Juice on top as the most functional health drink around.
And this is not all hype. It is backed by solid science. Youth Juice was developed on the basis of some research findings of the project “Physiological and Nutraceutical Characteristics of BC Wild Berries and Small Fruits” performed in British Colombia.

Cranberries are among the top foods with proven health benefits and are one of the key ingredients in Youth Juice. They are full of antioxidants, which protects
cells from damage by unstable molecules called free radicals. The National Institute of Health is funding research on the cranberry’s effects on heart disease, yeast infections and other conditions, and other researchers are investigating its potential against cancer, stroke and viral infections.
To date, research has found:
–Drinking cranberry juice can block urinary infections by binding to bacteria so
they can’t adhere to cell walls. While women often drink unsweetened cranberry juice to treat an infection, there’s no hard evidence that works.
–A compound in cranberries, proanthocyanidine, prevents plaque formation on teeth; mouthwashes containing it are being developed to prevent periodontal disease.
–In some people, regular cranberry juice consumption for months can kill the H. pylori bacteria, which can cause stomach cancer and ulcers.
Preliminary research also shows:
–Drinking cranberry juice daily may increase levels of HDL, or good cholesterol and reduce levels of LDL, or bad cholesterol.
–Cranberries may prevent tumors from growing rapidly or starting in the first place.
–Extracts of chemicals in cranberries prevent breast cancer cells from multiplying in a test tube; whether that would work in women is unknown.
All of this from just one of the 10 Youth Juice ingredients that make up YJ’s “Perfect 10.”

Black currants are one the of the key ingredients in Youth Juice. As with the other ingredients in YJ, these black currants have many health benefits.
In particular, black currants are renowned for their high content of Vitamin C (a powerful antioxidant), GLA (Gamma-Linoleic Acid, a very rare Omega-6 essential fatty acid) and potassium. They have been shown to have twice the potassium of bananas, four times the vitamin C of oranges, and twice the antioxidants of blueberries.
In addition, they contain anthocyanins. These natural compounds found in berries are very potent antioxidants. Anthocyanins inhibit certain enzymes in the body and reduce inflammation allowing for an effect that is similar to aspirin or ibuprofen. As a results, many people choose black currant juice over the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications to help with conditions like arthritis.
The fruit juice of black currant contains other substances that may have anti-cancer properties and well as providing essential fatty acids, fatty acids that the body cannot produce on its own.
To summarize, black currants have been proven to have health benefits including anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects as may be able to help prevent cancer. This combined with the other powerful ingredients in Youth Juice are truly remarkable for health and well being.

The Glycemic index of foods compares their ability to release glucose into the blood within 2-3 hours after consumption with that of an equal amount of glucose which has a Glycemic index of 100. When higher loads of sugar are released it triggers the release of other body enzymes such as insulin and insulin like growth factor that can interact with other enzymes to have negative consequences foe the nody. Any food with a Glycemic index below 56 is considered low. The Glycemic index of Youth Juice is 15, which is much lower than other beverage products available on the market today and makes it especially safe and attractive for diabetics. As a comparison, the Glycemic index of Gatorade is 78 and orange juice is 46.
